Punnag Saha

B.Sc., M.Sc., Role: Graduate Student (Ph. D. Student)

Punnag completed his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology in 2014 & his master’s in Biochemistry in 2016 from the University of Calcutta. He completed his M.Sc. dissertation project at the National Institute of Cholera & Enteric Diseases, Kolkata under the supervision of Dr. Shanta Dutta in 2015 & also worked for a year in the same lab as a “Research Assistant” after completing his master’s. His research was focused on studying carbapenem resistance of Gram-negative bacilli isolated from the blood of sepsis patients. He joined as a Project Trainee at Dept. of Biotechnology, Jadavpur University in 2018 & worked under the guidance of Prof. Parimal Karmakar for a year. His primary works were focused on the isolation of exosomes from different human cancer cells (e.g. PC3 cell line) & characterization of exosomes by biophysical methods.

Punnag joined Dr. Chatterjee’s lab as a Ph. D. student in August 2019.
