- Chatterjee lab goes deep down the gut to show the relation of altered gut microbiome in gulf war illness. Altered gut microbiome in a mouse model of Gulf War Illness causes neuroinflammation and intestinal injury via leaky gut and TLR4 activation. This research has received extensive media coverage from the science community.

- Dr. Seth publishes novel pathway for management of NAFLD, his work has gained national and international media attention. TRPV4 activation of endothelial nitric oxide synthase resists nonalcoholic fatty liver disease by blocking CYP2E1-mediated redox toxicity Congratulations Dr. Seth.
- Firas Alhasson has been awarded SFRBM travel award to attend the annual SFRBM/SFRII conference-2016.
- Varun Chandrashekaran has been selected for an oral presentation at the annual SFRBM/SFRII conference-2016. He is among the two graduate students selected from 45 accepted presenters. Firas Alhasson has also been selected for a poster presentation.
- Dr. Saurabh Chatterjee was invited to chair a session entitled “Design and Methodological Considerations for Basic Science” in the NIH Obesity Grantee meeting held on 21st to 22nd September at the Natcher Conference center (NIH) in Bethesda, MD. The meeting was attended by NIH grantees and project leaders from NIH funded projects and other leaders in the field.
- Dr. Saurabh Chatterjee has been granted early academic tenure and promoted to Associate Professor at University of South Carolina in three years- a rare event at a R1 tier 1 University in the US. (May,2016)
- Dr. Suvarthi Das successfully defended her dissertation titled ” Molecular cues of Pattern recognition receptor pathways in redox toxicity driven environmental NASH” on 25th April 2016.
- Dr. Saurabh Chatterjee has been chosen as the”Breakthrough Star“, the highest research award for junior faculty at the University of South Carolina, 2015.
- Dr. Saurabh Chatterjee received the “Outstanding Young Investigator Award 2015“, Society of Toxicology, Immunotoxicology SS, recognizing the contributions to the field of immunotoxicology in the last 10 years (Society of Toxicology, San Diego, 2015).
